I managed to hit the tourist spots using only the public bus and trains, and by foot. San Francisco still has the old bus transfers where the driver tears off the sheet at the spot indicating the time that the ticket expires (I miss the days when we had those in Vancouver… it always added a little excitement when we got our transfers. “How long did he give us? 2 hours-ohhh, he’s a nice bus driver”). On both days, my driver was really generous with the ticket and I had a 5 hour transfer. It was so simple to get around the city, I really admire San Francisco for that (compared to Vancouver, where at least once a week I see someone lost on the skytrain, thinking they are heading to Surrey, but stuck on the Millennium Line heading to Burnaby).
I enjoyed doing a little bit of travel and street photography, as it’s been a while (since India ’07).

This photo below was taken from the top of “The Crookedest Street“:

But I wasn’t just in San Francisco for the fun and sun. I had an intense photography workshop to attend. It was a great two days and lots was learned and practiced.
From left to right: Photographer extraordinaire, Jinky. She was a guest speaker, and is, in my opinion, the most amazing photographer around. My awesome roommate, Julie Birdseye (yes, that is her real last name… Could there be a more appropriate surname for a photographer?). And the mastermind and instructor behind the workshop, Cheryl Muhr- she claims she is only a photography ‘technician’, but that is total bologna as her work is also amazing.
