I’ve been asked recently if we’re transitioning into portraits because of all the recent newborn photos on the blog, and the answer is no, we’re definitely still primarily photographing weddings. I took the winter of 2010/2011 off from photographing weddings because 2009/2010 winter (around the time of the Olympics) was a non-stop full winter of 3-5 weddings a month from November-March, that I didn’t come close to catching up on editing, let alone work on the business side of things. Because of my time off this winter, I was able to photograph some newborn sessions. I LOVE photographing newborns, playing dress-up with them, seeing nervous first-time parents in the first few days of parenthood, perfecting the pose- it’s so much different than how I approach photography at a wedding and I enjoy the change of pace.

Kim sent her friends Vanessa and Justin over for a newborn shoot of Beatrix. Little Beatrix did not like being naked- she’s too classy for that- and so we had her striking a pose with diaper covers on for most of the session.  Thanks for bringing the cute!
