Winter Solstice Wedding: Lisa and Joel

1. We get to see Joel in his underwear not just once, but TWICE, in this blog post!
2. Lisa and Joel got married on the shortest and darkest day of the year- it rained from start to finish that day, except during the window of time they put aside for outdoor photos.  How rad is that?
3. Swan-e-set was beautifully decked out for the Christmas season, it gave us the warm fuzzies : )

This was a perfect bridesmaid bouquet for the winter.  I discussed winter wedding colors a lot with Lisa before her wedding and it all came down to this: why have dull colors on a dull day?  She kicked the winter blues in the butt with her color choices! (florals and decor were by Bobi at Radke Designs)

Everything was dreamy and photo time was awesome, Joel finished it off in style by falling flat in a wet mud patch- he had mud all down his sides…

… and it washed off like a dream, bringing us Ginch sighting #2:

Fabulous photos of a beautiful bride and groom.

Lisa

Love the photos! You two did an amazing job of capturing our day, even when Joel fell in the mud. These have all brought back fond memories, can’t wait to share them with everyone. Thanks for making everything work amazingly well! It was so good, it was like watching it all on video all over again. Except I got to see behind the scenes :)

Joanna

Perfection!!!
I love the flowers!

Tara

Wow the light that day was so interesting and beautiful- i wonder if it had to do with the low light horizon, or the rain. Either way, they look beautiful!

Anna

WOW! looks like a perfect day and a VERY happy couple! congrats again. lots of love! xxx

Steph

Such fantastic shoes! And are the rings their “real” ones? I love it! Also AMAZING locations. Good thing we’re already hitched! I’d never be as creative as all your couples on here.

Jemima

What a fun wedding! Her metallic sneakers and their green lantern rings were so cool! I also love the shots of the appetizers =b

I love the effect of the glass in these pictures, especially the one near the bottom with the wine storage on one side and the long table on the other. Also, now I’m hungry… !

Kirin at Starlight Wedding: Tracey and Robert

1. She wore long underwear under her wedding dress all day : )
2. Snow was what they really wanted to experience on their wedding day, so we headed up to Mt Seymour in their car (with snow tires), where there was about 10 feet of visibility and had some fun!
3. Robert had his own wedding march to walk down the aisle to: Star Wars!

Bad Weather Wedding: Sharon and James

1. This quite possibly may have been our poorest weather at a wedding in a long time, and it wasn’t helped by the very early winter sunset- luckily the gang was rad and I even had my very own umbrella-holder-gentleman follow me around. It was a huge help!
2. Because I get this question often, this is an example of what wedding photos can look like on a dark and rainy day- I’m showcasing more than usual in this blog post because I want folks to know that weather doesn’t really matter as long as YOU have an open mind on the wedding day- just as Sharon and James did!
3. A picture perfect ceremony at Minoru Chapel, followed by the gigantic Chinese wedding reception dinner at Empire Chinese Cuisine in Richmond- Sharon and James planned everything perfectly from start to finish.  Thanks for your incredible kindness!

sharon

Leslie! those are great!! I absolutely love the previews!

Steph

The eggs are intriguing… what was all that about?

Leslie

go to a few weddings and you’ll find out soon enough :) it’s a game, and there are many different versions of it, but involve the bride rolling the egg up, and then OVER, and down the other leg : ) It makes for good photos!

sharon

don’t know who came up with that idea but that was one embarrassing game~~

Leslie

and sharon, this was the first time I’ve ever seen the egg break! way to go ! :) :)

Nicole

I love the picture of the couple under / in front of the circle of light… and the great facial expressions during the wedding games!

Tara

Wow i love your night shots, they look so beautiful! Amazing work Leslie!

Krista

I love the one in the church, with his hand grazing her neck! Lovely!

Stacy Squires - Christchurch Wedding Photographer

you were certainly able to make the most of the bad weather … photos are great

Joanna

AWESOME!!! ALMOST makes me wish it rained on our wedding!!!

keri travis

In Hawaii you are considered especially lucky if it rains on your wedding day.
Lovely photos!

iLifephotography

KIM ING

haha! eggs are definitely the messiest variation of this I’ve seen so far! One couple I shot had the groom’s iphone pass through while his friends called his #…them asians! : )

Christmas Wedding: Laila and Ben

Laila contacted me the day before her and Ben’s intimate wedding took place (thanks partly to the urging of our beautiful bride from earlier this year, Kim- thanks Kim!).  I am so happy for them that they opted for a mini photo session near her parent’s home at Horseshoe Bay in the freezing cold (and near darkness) before having their wedding ceremony- the memories of their Christmastime wedding will last a lifetime!

Baby Finn

Meet Courtney and Eric’s newborn baby boy, Finn!  I had always wanted to photograph at St Paul’s hospital during Christmas season.  The cool thing about photographing these three at this location was that Finn was born here, and, the hospital is just across the street from Finn’s grandparent’s apartment building so it wasn’t all that ridiculous taking a newborn baby out on the town on a cold winter’s day : )  Congratulations Courtney and Eric!
